About Us

Rosalie Hall is a Young Parent Agency and accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre dedicated to providing specialized care and treatment for young parents, their infants, and children. Our services include high quality learning and supportive child care program, infant mental health treatment, Live-In Treatment Residence, and a wide range of outreach programs for young families in need. Each year, we deliver evidence-based treatment to more than 1,000 individuals, with an additional 3,000 supported through outreach and drop-in services. Serving Toronto communities since 1914, and operating from our Scarborough facility since 1956, Rosalie Hall carries forward the Misericordia tradition of over 150 years of service. Position Overview

As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) is responsible for delivering a high-quality, supportive child care program that meets the unique needs of the children and families in the Early Learning and Child Care Centre (ELCC). The RECE provides exceptional supervision and responsive programming that reflects children’s emerging skills, interests, and developmental needs. In addition, the RECE represents the program and Rosalie Hall both internally and externally, fostering positive relationships and collaborating with community service providers to support client and program goals.

Summary of Duties

  • Adhere to licensing requirements set out by the City of Toronto Children’s Services and the Ministry of Education.
  • Caomplete all tasks assigned during each shift.
  • Lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs) as required to support child care activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional learning to meet obligations for ongoing development.
  • Respond to children’s needs in a supportive and empathetic manner.
  • Model appropriate behaviour at all times.
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate programming that offers meaningful learning experiences, balancing indoor/outdoor, quiet/active, and individual/group activities.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain daily activity schedules and care routines.
  • Administer Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs) for each child and develop Individualized Support Plans and Developmental Support Plans as required.
  • Follow Rosalie Hall’s behaviour guidance policies.
  • Observe and document children’s daily activities to inform programming and care.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of accidents, injuries, illnesses, and case notes.
  • Collaborate respectfully with co-workers, families, and community partners.
  • Communicate daily activities, progress, and concerns with families.
  • Support a positive learning environment for students through guidance, mentorship, and evaluation.

General

  • Promote the ongoing direction of Rosalie Hall as a respectful and inclusive environment that addresses clients’ needs holistically.
  • Keep all matters pertaining to clients confidential.
  • Adhere to all agency mission, vision, policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in program and agency-wide staff meetings, training opportunities and supervision/support sessions on a regular basis.
  • Undertake shifting tasks and duties in a flexible manner to meet the demands of an expanded and changing program model.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Rosalie Hall deals with a vulnerable client population including infants and young children who are currently unable to be vaccinated against Covid-19. As a result, we are hiring staff that are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to offer as much protection as possible to our clients, staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications/ Skills

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Knowledge of best practices in working with infants/young children who may be part of a family with complex needs, including familiarity with concepts related to infant mental health, youth mental health, trauma, and poverty
  • Experience creating and facilitating programming consistent with ELCC philosophy and the principles of the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen? framework
  • Excellent ability to set priorities and demonstrates flexibility to address competing demands
  • Ability to identify learning needs and seek consultation and support through supervision
  • Ability to work in teams and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills that support positive and solution-focused interactions
  • Ability to be enthusiastic, resilient and maintain composure when personal resources are challenged
  • Commitment to an anti-bias, anti-oppressive approach in working with children, families, and colleagues
  • Knowledge of related policy agendas, relevant legislation and Canadian Centre for Accreditation standards that impact the delivery of early childhood education services within the context of a Children’s Mental Health Centre
